Between May 8 and July 7, 2026, we analyzed school lunch menus across multiple institutions in Korea. Over 43 school days, a total of 257 dishes were served, with 141 unique menu items. The average caloric content per meal during this period was 747kcal.

Clear Winner: Napa Cabbage Kimchi

Napa cabbage kimchi dominated with 29 appearances, making it by far the most frequently served menu. This accounts for 88% of all kimchi-based dishes and underscores its status as an irreplaceable staple on the Korean table. The dish appeared most frequently on Mondays (7 times), Wednesdays (7 times), and Thursdays (6 times), with June showing the highest frequency (13 times).

Runner-Up: Kkakdugi (Diced Radish Kimchi)

Kkakdugi secured the second position with 12 appearances. It showed a consistent pattern, appearing especially often on Tuesdays and Fridays (4 times each), with June again showing the highest frequency (7 times).

Key Insight: Heavy Reliance on Kimchi
